The Saint-Nicolas Collegiate Church, consecrated in 1060, has suffered numerous damages and alterations over the centuries.
During the revolution, the church was transformed into a coal warehouse. The interest of this church comes from its preserved Romanesque part and in particular its capitals.
Now classified as a Historic Monument following the discovery, in 1995, of murals evoking the life of Saint-Laurent.
Located in the north apse, they tell through eight successive scenes part of the martyrdom of St Lawrence with the oldest representation of pilgrims. In the south apse, you can admire a majestic Christ surrounded by the symbol of the four evangelists.
Its Romanesque frescoes are the largest in the Gers in terms of surface area: 30m2 and 18m2.
Note the presence at the north entrance of the church of a “Signum leonis” stele. Outside, the north portal on the street side is a pure testimony of this Romanesque period as well as the remains of a cloister (which was a cemetery) and the buildings of the collegiate church which housed a college of canons.
