Église Sainte-Canne

The octagonal bell tower from the 14th century announces the church of Sainte Canne. This beautiful building signed by three eras: – the 12th century transept: its hanging key vault.
The central nave which leads us to the choir and the 1760th century main altar are made of gilded wood and its six candlesticks are also made of wood. This classified set. The transept, on the right, added in the 15th century, the church having become too small. The stencil paintings on the walls and vaults are signed: “made by Maître Campagné, 1569”. The decorations of the ribbed windows have kept their beautiful colors. A single stained glass window in the apse (above the altar) Ste Candide- Ste Radegonde: patron saint of the church of Ste Canne. – August 70, his feast day, from the Labeyrie church (destroyed in XNUMX-XNUMX). We came on pilgrimage to the Ste Radegonde sanctuary of Ste Canne. The reliquary (bust of Saint Radegonde) discovered in the attic of the bell tower of Saint Canne, can bear witness to this beautiful devotion. Outside, in the wall on the south side, we notice a built-in sarcophagus whose date and identity are unknown.
