Le Castet : Rempart en Terre Crue et Motte Féodale

Medieval ensemble classified as a Historic Monument, including a raw earth rampart (unique in Europe), a feudal mound, a seigniorial dwelling, a Merovingian sarcophagus…
Le Castet in Sainte Christie d’Armagnac
It is a set comprising a feudal motte, a medieval rampart in raw earth (unique in Europe) to which is attached a building constituting the lordly home and an access door to Castet rebuilt in the 17th century located in the crowned tower of a dovecote. Also on the heights of the village, the Saint Pierre Church, rebuilt in the second half of the 13th century, contains remains of an 11th century construction. The ensemble known as “Castet” is listed as a Historic Monument. Free visit every day with Jean-Yves who tells you the surprising story of Countess Mathe d'Armagnac and the many anecdotes of the village.
Le Castet is also a medieval garden dedicated to the flora of this period and with a game stored in the wooden box located at the entrance to discover the place.
During the summer, a community café is open to refresh you and during regular events: meals, fireworks, participatory workshops, Night Earth Festival, heritage days, etc.
And for the youngest, a fun booklet to accompany them during the visit.
