Musée d'Artagnan

The D'Artagnan Museum offers a visual tour and a discovery film of the famous Gascon. Numerous documents and reproductions of works evoke the real story of d'Artagnan as well as its historical context.
The commune of Lupiac, Castelnau in the heart of Gascony, saw the birth in the XNUMXth century of one of the emblematic characters of French history, the most famous of the Gascons: Charles de Batz de Castelmore, otherwise called D'Artagnan.
In memory of our valiant musketeer, the d'Artagnan Museum was built in the very heart of the village where he was born.
A statue of the hero and wax mannequins help to recreate the atmosphere of the “Grand Siècle”.
As for the legendary hero, he is evoked through the Dumas trilogy and its literary sources. The variety and number of editions testify to the public's interest in the most famous Gascon. Let us add the cinema which has given it a considerable place through dozens of productions produced and broadcast around the world. On the central square of the village of Lupiac you can admire the first equestrian statue of d'Artagnan, a monumental bronze by the famous sculptor Daphné Du Barry.
