Village de Lias d'Armagnac

Lias d'Armagnac owes its name to "linars" (linen)
Flax, from which this town takes its name, was grown there until the middle of the 19th century.
Located 10km from Cazaubon, the town is served by the D32 Houga-Cazaubon and the D03 which, leaving from Eauze, allows access to the Landes department.
Its origins are very ancient, but imprecise.
Lias is the cradle of the ancient and illustrious Lustrac family, one of whose members, Bertrand, was placed at the head of the abbey of Saint Maurrin, in Lot et Garonne, before being named bishop of Lectoure.

The territory of the commune abounds in springs and ponds. It is thus in Lias that the Estang is born whose name changes direction to the west of the village.

The St Martin church stands in the heart of the village, it undoubtedly dates back to the 14th century due to its basement. Its wall bell tower was renovated in the mid-19th century.
