Village de Riguepeu

The village of Riguepeu nestles in the hollow of the hills: this geographical location was disastrous for "this flourishing city of 500 fires and 100 horsemen sent out in times of war", because in 1584, the city was devastated by a flood.
The oldest constructions show the light ocher veined stone known as “Riguepeu”. (2 stonemasons)
The church, built in 1746 with a fairly recent bell tower-wall, dominates the Osse valley. The forest of Montpellier (Mont high) was home to an important glass industry (bottles for Armagnac) from the 1806th century until XNUMX, later tile factories were established there, finding a nearby and abundant source of energy in the forest. . In autumn, the Pitron forest offers, thanks to the variety of its species, a rich palette of colors.
Three hiking trails allow you to discover the countryside and wooded areas of the town.
In the past, on October 18, the “lean goose fair” took place. this fair was given pride of place by the pétanque sports association: entertainment, exhibitors, meals and geese.
Local festival: penultimate weekend of July (small market and garage sale)
Associations participate in the life of the commune: Amicale Sportive de Pétanque, Entente Barran-Riguepeu (basketball), Festival Committee, Club Génération Mouvement “Meeting of Friendships”, Diane Riguepeuloise (hunting), Graine de Coquins (Parents Association of students)
