Between the Osse river which flows towards the Garonne and the Douze which flows into the Adour, at the point of watershed between the 2 large basins of the south-west, there is a terroir which brings together all the geological particularities of the region ( sands from the west, limestone sediments, deposits coming down from the Pyrenees). It is the Ténarèze region renowned for its very long-lasting Armagnacs but also for the aromatic qualities of its wines.
We find on the surface of the Estate all the geological diversity of the Ténarèze, a mixture of the blond sands of Bas Armagnac, the clay-limestone soils of the Condomois and the detrital deposits carried from the Pyrenees. The sands of the west and the clay have mixed intimately to give the Boulbènes of the valley, while the clay-limestone “terreforts” are the soils of the slopes, and on the summits appear the limestone soils called “peyrusquet” and some blond sand.
If the diversity of the soils makes it rich, the exposure from West to East, around the hillock dominated by the hamlet of Conté, makes it unique by allowing selective maturation of the grapes.
