This is the story of a vineyard in Gascony which has always focused on the production of Armagnac and which, 40 years ago, had the courage to diversify its production! The goal is to improve the quality of wines in order to conquer the world (that's the panache of our Gascons😉). Find dry or sweet white, rosé or red wines in our estates in the Igp Côtes de Gascogne appellation 🍷
A little history 📜
The year 1974 marks the birth of the name “Vin de pays des Côtes de Gascogne” applied to the department of Gers.
In 2004, the production area will be extended to the entire Armagnac region. In 1982, the restructuring of the vineyard and the layout of the cellar are recognized and the vineyard get it certification “Côtes de Gascogne country wine”.
A specific decree will then set the production conditions across the entire department of Gers. Since August 1, 2009, Côtes de Gascogne has been recognized and recorded in “ Indication Protected Geographic ».
Their production conditions have currently been defined in specifications.
Terroir and Grape Varieties 🍇
A terroirXceptiOnnel🌱
The Vineyard of Cotes de Gascony is on the big three terroirs which correspond to the historical areas delimiting the origin of the armagnac :
1
Bas-Armagnac
It is the largest part of the appellation, occupying 2/3 of its surface area, on light soils, called “tawny sands”, described as boulbènes. They are known for their eloquence and white balance benefits.
2
La Tenareze
This area is a mixture of clay, limestone and sediments. It promotes the production of very complete reds.
3
Haut-Armagnac
It is a vast terroir where the vines are confidential, this sector is also clay-limestone in nature, delivering wines with a character close to those produced in the Ténarèze.
In the South West for the France, oceanic grape varieties and originating from Pyrenean foothills naturally established themselves in the Côtes de Gascogne vineyards.
The star grape varieties ⭐
For wines white 🥂: The colombard (represents half of the white grape varieties), the Gros Manseng, Sauvignon and L'Ugni Blanc.
