In the middle of ducks, cornfields and vines, well anchored in the hollow of Nogaro, the Circuit Paul Armagnac gives pride of place to the world of motorsport in the Great South-West and the Gers... no you are not dreaming , it’s definitely a car circuit!

The crazy history of the Circuit

Raymond Bois – Municipality of Nogaro

It all started with Robert Castagnon's idea to organize a competition in Armagnac, first in the form of a time trial and then in the format of a rally. The first Armagnac Rally was then born in 1953 contested on open roads and part of which took place in the streets of Nogaro in the Gers. With the safety of pilots and the public called into question, Robert Castagnon, with the complicity of his friend Paul Armagnac, must find a solution. This seems obvious to him: build a permanent circuit around Nogaro. It was then that an unused plot of the aerodrome was annexed in 1959 and work could begin..., The initial layout takes the shape of the Sebring Circuit (Florida, United States) on which Paul Armagnac competed in the 12H twice (1956 and 1959).

The big story begins on October 2, 1960... for the first time the checkered flag is lowered in Nogaro 🏁... but the story is spoiled in 1962 during a tragic event which occurs with the death of Paul Armagnac during the tests for the 1000 kilometers of Paris on the Circuit de Montléry. In homage to the Gascon pilot, the Nogaro Circuit took his name to become the Paul Armagnac circuit.

A crazy complex

Since then, the Circuit Paul Armagnac has been structured over time under the leadership ofAndré DIVIÈS the circuit is modernized, the route evolves, the infrastructures develop and its competitions, at national and international level, become essential in France.
