The Joseph Fourniol Arenas🏟️

Vic-Fezensac is one of the great bullfighting towns of the South-West of France, thanks to its arenas. Their long Story began in 1929 when the “Bull Racing Society” asked the municipal council for the construction of arenas. There class was built in about five months, and the inauguration took place on September 20 and 21, 1931 with two Landes races, in front of a huge crowd. Their capacity was then 3.500 places.

Vic-Fezensac is today one of the hotspots for bullfighting in France. Its arenas can accommodate approximately 6 800 spectators. During the Feria del toro at Pentecost, the Gers commune transforms into a “plaza de toros” with five bullfights during the same weekend.

The status in front of the arenas

In 1990, the life-size statue which, in front of the arena, represents a toro by Victorino MARTIN collapsing at the feet of Francisco RUIZ MIGUEL was not erected to the glory of the latter who, however, was chosen as a “symbol”
